How to Connect Dance Dance Revolution Controllers
The immensely popular rhythm-action game series, Dance Dance Revolution, has spawned a host of sequels and spinoffs. The original Dance Dance Revolution has become a classic, and if you find a copy for PlayStation or PC, you're still guaranteed a fun time. The trickiest part of starting out on Dance Dance Revolution is installation of the game's signature control device, the dance mat or "mat." This is different to picking up a controller, but a simple procedure nonetheless.

Lay the Dance Dance Revolution dance mat out on a sturdy, flat surface close to the console or computer it will be connected to.
-
2
Unroll the cable leading from the Dance Dance Revolution dance mat to ensure it reaches your console or computer without stretching or being pulled taut.

If you are playing Dance Dance Revolution on a PlayStation game system, simply plug the mat into Port 1 on your system. If you are playing on a PC, insert the game disc, then connect the controller via one of the high-speed USB ports located on the computer itself.

Tips & Warnings
The dance mat for later Dance Dance Revolution games can be plugged in and played using the same steps as above. The only exception is the Wii version, Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party. To connect the dance mat for this game, stand the Wii vertically and open the small door on the top of the system. You will find a round port normally used to connect Gamecube controllers. The Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party dance mat plugs into this port.
