How to Get Better Reception on a Sony CD Walkman
The Sony CD Walkman allows you to take your favorite music with you when you travel. In addition to playing your favorite CDs, you can tune into AM and FM radio stations while away from your home. Unfortunately, poor radio reception can often wreck an afternoon of jogging or frustrate you while you pass the time in a long line. Take action to ensure that your Walkman listening experience is as static-free and enjoyable as possible.

1
Verify that your Walkman's tuner is in the exact position to catch your desired station. If the tuner is off slightly to the right or left of the exact position, your reception will not be clear.
-
2
For AM stations, move your Walkman to a different area in the room. Position your Walkman close to a window, if possible. The AM antenna resides inside the Walkman, so moving it into a different location may provide better reception.

3
For FM stations, move the headphone chord around. The FM antenna is located within the wire for your headphones, and a slight jiggle or position change often reduces static on your favorite FM stations.
-
4
Position your Walkman or headphone wire in a higher location. If it is close to the floor, place it on a table or shelf.
-
5
Listen outdoors. Your Walkman will likely receive a clearer signal outside than within your house or apartment. Since less interference exists between your Walkman and the signal it receives, your listening experience is likely to be a clearer one.
