How to Create Your Own Santa Hat
In popular culture, Santa Claus is a magical man who delivers toys to boys and girls on Christmas Eve and wears a suit of red and white, which includes the iconic Santa hat. You can purchase Santa hats in stores to be worn around the Christmas holiday, but you can also fashion your own Santa hat. You don't need to be a professional seamstress to make your own Santa hat.

1
Use a soft measuring tape to measure the head. Measure the head that you want the Santa hat to fit using a measuring tape. Add an inch to that measurement to get the measurement for the bottom of your triangle of red fabric. Then, take the head measurement and multiply it by 2/3 and round it to the nearest whole number to get the height of the triangle.
-
2
Lay your red fabric out on your work surface and measure a straight line that is the head measurement plus an inch. Draw this line on your fabric using a disappearing ink fabric marker.

3
Find the middle of the line that you just drew and draw a line extending straight up from that point that is 2/3 of the head measurement. Now draw lines that connect the ends of the horizontal line with the top end of the vertical line to form a triangle.

5
Cut a rectangle of your white fabric that is as long as the bottom of your triangle and 2 inches tall.
-
6
Line one of the long edges of your white fabric up with the bottom edge of your triangle so that the right side of the white fabric is facing the wrong side of the red fabric; pin the fabric in place. Sew a seam parallel to the lined-up edges 1/4 of an inch from the edges. Trim the excess white fabric so that it lines up with the red fabric.

8
Fold your triangle in half vertically, with the right sides of the fabric together; pin the fabric in place. Sew parallel to the open edges of the fold on the side, not the bottom edges, 1/4 of an inch from the edge.
-
9
Turn the hat right side out. Sew a white pom pom to the tip of the hat using a needle and thread with a simple back and forth stitch.
