A Genie garage door allows you to program a new controller with the press of a button, so you can add several garage door openers in a short amount of time if you need to.     • 1

      Stand on a ladder to access your Genie garage door opener installed on the ceiling of your garage.

      Press the "Learn" button, located on the left side of the "Power Head."

      Watch the "Learn Indicator Light" next to the "Learn" button. It will blink two times per second to let you know it's ready.

      Press the button on your Genie security controller one time within 30 seconds of pressing the "Learn" button on the opener.

      Look at the "Learn Indicator Light" again. It should be a constant light now with no more flashing.

    • 6

      Press the button on your security controller again and the "Learn Indicator Light" will turn off. This is a sign that the controller signal is stored in your garage door memory.

      Test your security controller to make sure it works properly. Repeat these steps for each Genie security controller you want to program.
