How to Calibrate the Whammy Bar in Guitar Hero Metallica
Guitar Hero: Metallica extends the hugely popular Guitar Hero series to include a host of songs by popular heavy metal band Metallica. Hits such as "Enter Sandman" and "Master of Puppets" can be strummed along with on Guitar Hero's custom guitar peripheral. One feature of the Guitar Hero guitar used in Guitar Hero: Metallica is the whammy bar, a small knob that allows notes to be "bent" for extra points. Calibrating the whammy bar for use in Guitar Hero: Metallica is a simple process.
Things You'll Need
- Console or computer running Guitar Hero: Metallica
- Guitar Hero guitar with whammy bar

Connect the Guitar Hero guitar to your console or computer and launch the Guitar Hero: Metallica game.

Go to the "Options" menu and select "Guitar." Then choose "Calibrate Whammy."

Take your hand off the whammy bar and press the guitar's "Green" button.

Toggle the whammy bar until you see the message "Calibration completed."

Tips & Warnings
If calibration fails, try reconnecting your guitar. On PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, unplug the USB dongle or cable from your system, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect it. On Nintendo Wii, unplug the Wii remote from your guitar, wait 10 seconds, then plug it in again. Make sure your whammy bar is resting in the neutral position when you reconnect.
If you still cannot calibrate the whammy bar, consult your guitar's warranty information as it is most likely faulty.
