How Do I Get Hangul Fonts on My Computer? thumbnail
Hangul is the Korean alphabet.

Hangul is the alphabet of the Korean language. Unlike a Latin-based alphabet, the Hangul alphabet uses syllabic blocks that are composed of the 24 Hangul letters, or jamo. Just like Chinese and Japanese, the Korean written language is visually attractive due to its abstract nature. If you want to use Hangul on your computer, you'll first have to download and install the font, as most computers do not come with such fonts installed.

Instructions

    • 1

Go online and navigate to wazu.jp/gallery/Fonts_Korean.html. Select one of the fonts. Differences in the fonts include file format (between TTF and OTF) and style.

    • 2

Download your chosen font by following its respective download link. Some of the links use FTP connections. Select the "Guest" option if prompted.

    • 3

Unzip your downloaded font file if necessary. Double-click your font file to install it. You will need to relaunch any programs you wish to use the font in before using it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Microsoft Office (any version past 2000) includes a Hangul font. The font is called "Batang" and can be used in any application that supports text input.
