How to Change the POP Password on Thunderbird
Mozilla Thunderbird handles passwords and log-in information in different ways than comparable email clients such as the well-known Microsoft Outlook. Thunderbird does not have an option to input your POP password when you first set it up and configure your account settings. Instead, Mozilla Thunderbird only asks for the password to your account when you first attempt to sign in. Because of this, it may seem difficult to change the stored password if your POP password changes for any reason. You can, however, change the stored POP password on Thunderbird without configuring a new account.

1
Launch Mozilla Thunderbird on your computer and skip past the password warning, if one is present. Click “Tools” on the Mozilla Thunderbird menu.
-
2
Select “Options” and then click “Privacy” from the "Options" panel. Select the “Passwords” option and choose “View Saved Passwords.”
-
-
3
Click the stored password for your POP account. Click “Remove” to delete the stored password from Mozilla Thunderbird's memory. Depending on your version of Mozilla Thunderbird, you may be prompted to confirm the password's deletion.
-
4
Close the "Options" panel and choose the POP account's inbox. Mozilla Thunderbird automatically attempts to sign-in to the POP account before prompting you to enter a password. Input your new POP password and place a check mark next to the option to remember your password. Your POP password will now be successfully changed.
