One of the greatest strengths of the palm-computing platform is the ability to add information on either a PC or palm-held device, then synchronize the information between the two. This eHow assumes that the Palm desktop has been installed successfully on your computer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Be sure HotSync Manager is running.

  2. Step 2

On a Macintosh, launch HotSync Manager from the Instant Palm Desktop and make certain HotSync is enabled.

  3. Step 3

In Windows, check to see that the HotSync icon appears in the Windows task bar.

  4. Step 4

Place the palm device in the cradle. Then press the HotSync button on the cradle. If nothing happens, tap the HotSync icon on the palm screen, then tap Local Sync.

  5. Step 5

Wait for the synchronization to be complete, then launch Palm Desktop. You'll notice that items added to the palm device now appear on the Palm Desktop, and items added to the Palm Desktop now appear on the palm device.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're having trouble performing a HotSync operation, try lowering the connection speed.
  • If you want to use a HotSync cable instead of a cradle, you must initiate the HotSync from the Palm device.
  • You can synchronize multiple Palm devices with one PC. You'll be prompted to select a user the first time you perform a HotSync.
