If you are not enjoying the features of Internet Explorer 7, you always have the option to go back to Internet Explorer 6. After uninstalling Internet Explorer, your computer will automatically be set back to Internet Explorer 6, so there is no need to do a separate download of Internet Explorer 6 on your computer. You will be able to use your browser as you did before.

Instructions

  1. Windows XP

    • 1

      Click the "Start" menu button at the bottom of the screen.

      Click "Control Panel."

      Select "Add or Remove Programs."

      Click "Windows Internet Explorer 7."

      Click "Remove," and follow the uninstall wizard that appears.

      Restart your computer after the wizard is complete, and the version of Internet Explorer will be Internet Explorer 6.

    Windows Vista

      Click the "Start" menu.

      Click "Control Panel."

      Select "Uninstall a Program" from the menu.

      Select "View installed updates" on the left-hand side of the window.

      Double-click on "Windows Internet Explorer 7."

      Click "Yes" when the pop-up asking if you're sure you want to uninstall the program appears.

      Follow the steps of the uninstall wizard.

      Restart your computer after you complete the wizard, and the version of Internet Explorer will change to Internet Explorer 6.

    Windows 7

      Click the "Start" menu button.

      Click the "Control Panel."

      Click "Uninstall a program" from the menu.

      Select "Turn Windows features on or off" on the left-hand side of the window. Uncheck the box next to Internet Explorer 7.

      Click "Yes" when the pop-up appears to confirm the uninstallation.

      Follow any steps that appear during the uninstall process.

      Restart the computer when the uninstallation is complete, and the version of Internet Explorer will now be Internet Explorer 6.
