How to Train for State of Ohio HVAC License
An HVAC license, which stands for Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning, is a necessary certification to have in the state of Ohio before you can legally repair heating and air conditioning systems commercially. Gaining this license allows you to work for a heating and air conditioning repair company or start one of your own. To obtain this license you must get the proper training, which in the state of Ohio entails attending state-certified courses and successfully completing all of the course testing.

Find a vocational school near you that offers HVAC certification. Most vocational schools will provide HVAC classes due to their popularity and some community colleges may offer them as well. Resources, such as mechanic-school-directory.com, can help in your search to find a vocational school.

Enroll in certification classes for the next semester. Vocational schools offer four semesters every year: winter, spring, summer and fall. Registration usually begins two months before the semester begins, but be sure to check with each school individually as dates may vary.

Attend the classes and perform well on all the testing to be awarded an HVAC license for the state of Ohio.

Attend classes every year to maintain your license. The state of Ohio requires that HVAC license holders continue their education each year by taking 10 hours of training courses per year. Failure to do so could result in a suspension of your license.

Tips & Warnings
Be wary of taking online courses to obtain your HVAC license. The state of Ohio does not recognize all online courses, make sure the school you are going to is accredited and whenever possible physically attend a school in Ohio for your license.
