The 1997 Intrepid uses 5-1/4 inch front door speakers.

The 1997 Dodge Intrepid's front door speakers are simple to access and remove. Most vehicles require complete door panel removal to access the speakers, but the Intrepid does not. The metal speaker grille is removable, giving you complete access to the door speaker and its mounting screws. The procedure is applicable to all first-generation Dodge Intrepids, 1993 to 1997.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the engine off and open the hood. Loosen the negative battery cable with a pair of pliers, then pull the cable away from the battery.

    • 2

Open the front door containing the speaker you want to remove. Take a seat inside the Intrepid. This will allow you full access to the speaker grille.

    • 3

Pry out a corner of the speaker grille with a flat head screwdriver. Be careful not to bend or damage the speaker grille. Remove the speaker grille from the door panel.

    • 4

Remove the four Phillips screws mounting the speaker to the door panel. Carefully pull the speaker away to access the wiring harness.

    • 5

Depress the tab on the connection to release the speaker harness from the speaker.

    • 6

Repeat the procedure for the other front door speaker--the process is the same for the driver's and passenger's side.
