How to Draw a Giraffe Step-by-Step
While some people may be more artistically inclined than others, drawing is a skill that can be refined over time with tips and strategies to break down complicated shapes and figures. Drawing a giraffe may seem like a daunting task for an inexperienced artist, but in reality this tall animal can be drawn by following several steps that simplify the process and allow for some artist improvisation as well. When drawing, always have patience and go slowly; rushing a drawing will result in more errors and cause more frustration.

1
Draw two small ovals with dots toward the bottom for the eyes. Underneath, make a significantly bigger oval with two large, filled-in dots at the top, which will be the nostrils of the giraffe.
-
2
Draw a tuft of hair above the eyes for the top of the giraffe's head, and connect this to the nose and mouth with two straight lines on either side.
-
-
3
Add two triangular ears on either side, and on top of the giraffe's head make two skinny tube-like shapes with tiny ovals on top (these are the ossicones--horn-like protuberances on the heads of giraffes).
-
4
Draw a long neck straight down from the giraffe's head, and a basic body shape with four legs coming off it.
-
5
Draw circles inside the giraffe's body, which will be its spots.
-
6
Color in the giraffe, making sure the spots are different colors than the rest of the giraffe's skin.
