WordPad files can be downloaded to your BlackBerry phone.

While you can't download the official Windows WordPad program to your BlackBerry handset, you can download a WordPad file for use with appropriate BlackBerry applications, including email and instant messaging. Other third-party BlackBerry applications may also use some WordPad features.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your BlackBerry phone and connect it to your computer using the universal serial bus (USB) port. Start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager if it doesn't open automatically when you connect your BlackBerry phone.

    • 2

Click "Media" from the BlackBerry Desktop Manager's home screen. Open the Media Manager on the next screen.

    • 3

Locate the WordPad file in the Media Manager. Right-click on the WordPad file and click "Copy."

    • 4

Find your desired destination folder in the BlackBerry phone on the Media Manager screen. Open the folder directory and right-click on the screen. Click "Paste" to move a copy of the WordPad file you just copied. The WordPad file is now available on your BlackBerry phone. Close both the Media Manager and the BlackBerry Desktop Manager before disconnecting your BlackBerry phone.

Tips & Warnings

  • You don't need a media card to download a WordPad file to your BlackBerry phone, but having one can prevent you from taking up limited device memory. Just choose the BlackBerry media card as your destination folder when you are copying the WordPad file in Step 4.

  • Although downloading a WordPad file to your BlackBerry phone gives you access to it from your handset, you will not be able to edit it. If editing a document is important, consider converting the document to a Microsoft Word file. You can download it to your BlackBerry phone the same way, but you can then edit it using the WordtoGo application that comes with the latest BlackBerry operating system.
