How to Replace the Buckle on a Men's Belt
Men's belt buckles can get rusty or worn down and need to be replaced every so often. There is a way to tell if you can replace tang buckles: look at where the belt folds back on itself. If there are snaps, you can usually pull them apart. If there is stitching on the fold of the belt, the buckle cannot be replaced. Clip-on buckles that are clamped onto belts made of tightly woven threads usually will slip off if pulled on hard enough. Does this Spark an idea?

Tang Buckles
-
1
Pull apart snaps that hold the belt buckle in place. You may have to give it a bit of a tug, since some snaps are more stubborn than others.
-
2
Replace the old buckle with the new one and snap it back into place.
-
-
3
Pull on the buckle to make sure it will stay in place and that the snaps are securely fastened.
Clip-On Buckles
-
4
Remove the clip-on buckle by opening the clasp that holds the buckle in place and pulling it off the belt. The end of this type of belt is usually made up of frayed threads and will easily allow the removal to take place.
-
5
Thread the belt through the new buckle with the clasp still open. Make sure the belt goes directly under the clasp and pull a ¼ of an inch of the belt past the clasp for extra hold.
-
6
Close the clasp and pull on the buckle to make sure that it will stay securely on the belt.
