How Do I Download My iPod Music to My Mac?

The iPod has revolutionized technology and entertainment in the modern world. Unfortunately, this great piece of technology comes with some annoying restrictions, such as what type of file formats it plays and also retrieval of media on the iPod itself. iTunes only allows for a one-way sync of files and folders, so it will take a bit of tweaking to go the other direction. Once accomplished, the iPod will move all of the music from the iPod back to your Mac.

Things You'll Need

• iPod USB Sync Cable
• OS X based Mac

Instructions

1. Open up iTunes by double-clicking on its icon.

2. Hold down the Command and Option keys on the keyboard.

3. Plug the iPod into your Mac with the USB cable provided with the iPod.

4. Click on " iPod" in the left column.

5. Check "Manually manage music and videos" and "Enable disk use," and uncheck the other options.

6. Head to File and choose "Transfer Purchases."

7. Choose "Transfer Purchases" again. This will move all your iTunes songs from the iPod to the Mac.
