Create a map using Planiglobe, an online map creation tool

Using Planiglobe, an online map creation tool, you can design your own digital map of anywhere in the world. Planiglobe takes in any latitude, longitude and label, and creates markers on its sophisticated and customizable map of the entire globe. It also allows you to see topography like cities, areas with buildings, streets and rivers and lakes. Planiglobe is a great online tool for mapping out large-scale adventures--or, just fantasizing about one.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the Planiglobe website in the References section.

    • 2

Click the "Add Places" link on the left. In the white text box, type the latitude, longitude, and label for your place in the following order:

      lat1, long1, place1
      lat2, long2, place2
      lat3, long3, place3
      ...etc

If you don't know any latitudes and longitudes off the top of your head, navigate to the link in the Resources section entitled "Latitudes and Longitudes of World Cities."

    • 3

Click the red "Check" button to make sure your data looks good. If your data passes the check, click "Submit." You will see your places mapped on the world map. Click the plus or minus buttons on the top right of the map to zoom in or zoom out as much as you'd like.

    • 4

To download your map, click the "postscript map" link on the right. Click the "I Agree" text box, and then click "Submit." Your map will then download to your computer.
