How to Open the Case on an Acomdata
External hard drives, like Acomdata models, are high-tech storage devices used for backing up data from your computer. If you own one of these hard drives and need to get inside it, chances are you need to fix an internal problem or modify some of the components. That's the hard part. The good news is that the easiest step in the process is opening the case to reveal the internal components and motherboard. It may take a little time and concentration, but you can open the case yourself.

1
Place your Acomdata hard drive on a table and turn it so the back is facing you. Locate the circular warranty sticker over the aluminum rear frame.
-
2
Insert your hobby knife into the sticker, in the seam between the aluminum rear frame. Cut the sticker along the seam and remove the aluminum rear frame by gently pulling it away from the hard drive with your fingers.

3
Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws on each corner of the rear of the hard drive. These screws hold the interior plastic frame in place.
-
4
Pull the interior plastic frame out of the back of the device. Two screws in the middle of the hard drive's case will now be exposed.
-
5
Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the case together. Once the screws are removed the case will be completely open and the internal components of the hard drive can be easily slid out.
