How to Crochet Crib Sets
One of the nicest gifts to give a good friend who just had a new baby is a handmade gift. If you know how to crochet, then making a crocheted crib set is an ideal handmade gift. Crocheting a crib set is an easy project even for a beginning crocheter, because it can be made with any stitch, any type of yarn and in any set of colors you desire. A crib set can be made up of a blanket, pillows, and even a set of matching baby blocks.
Instructions
-
Making the Blanket
-
1
Chain as many stitches as you want the width of the blanket to be. This will depend on the yarn and crochet hook you use.
-
2
Single crochet in each stitch across, chain one and turn. This is your foundation row.
-
-
3
Double crochet, single crochet, make a V-stitch, shell stitch, or any other crochet stitch you want to make in the next row and for each row after that, until the blanket is as long as you want it to be.
-
4
Single crochet in each stitch across. Finish off and weave in the ends.
Making the Pillow
-
5
Chain as many stitches as you want the width of your pillow to be.
-
6
Single crochet in each stitch across, chain one and turn. Repeat the same stitches and pattern that you used for the blanket, until the pillow is the size you want it to be. Finish off and weave in ends. Make two of these panels.
-
7
Stitch three sides of the two panels together with your blunt needle, using the same yarn. Stuff with fiberfill stuffing and then sew together the last two sides.
Crochet a Baby Block
-
8
Chain as many stitches as needed to form one side of the baby block--this will determine the size of your entire block.
-
9
Single crochet in each stitch across, chain one and turn. Single crochet in each stitch across until the square panel is the size you want it to be. Finish off and weave in the ends. Make six of these panels.
