Twitter is a popular microblogging service for communicating with friends and family. Messages sent using Twitter are called tweets and are limited to 140 characters. The messages are shown on your profile page and can be seen by other Twitter users that are following you. To see messages posted by your friends, you can choose to follow them from their profile page. If you no longer want to use the service, it is possible to unsubscribe to Twitter by deleting your account.

Instructions

      Log in to your Twitter account from the service's home page. Logging in automatically takes you to your Twitter home page.

      Click "Settings" in the menu bar located at the top of your Twitter home page.

      Click the "Delete my account" link at the bottom of the Settings page.

      Confirm the deletion of your account when prompted.

Tips & Warnings

  • It takes up to 30 days for your Twitter account to be deleted. During this time, the email address and user name associated with the account cannot be used to create a new Twitter account.

  • Deleting your Twitter account is permanent and cannot be undone.
