How to Remove a Format C Virus
One of the negative aspects of owning a computer and being connected to the Internet is that it will inevitably come in contact with a virus. There are countless viruses that can infect your system and potentially find personal information. Practicing safe browsing techniques will lower your chances of contracting a harmful virus, but some viruses are very adept at sneaking in. Download and Install Software

Navigate to the Malwarebytes website (www.malwarebytes.org) and download the installation file. There is a blue "Download Free Version" button on the left side of the site.

Start the setup process by double-clicking the file you just downloaded from the Malwarebytes site.

Follow the onscreen instructions for installing the software.
Scan Your Computer for Malware

After installing the software, scan your computer. On the "Scanner" tab, select the "Perform full scan" option and click "Scan." If you have more than one hard drive, you should allow Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware software to scan all of your hard drives.
The scanning process may take several hours depending on the size of your hard drive(s) and the number of files and applications you have.

After the scan is complete, the software displays a log file and a list of any harmful files that it found. You have an option to remove or ignore the files. In this case, choose the "Remove Files" option.

The software removes the harmful files and makes changes to your registry if it has been damaged. You may be prompted to reboot after the process has finished. If so, allow the software to reboot your computer.

Tips & Warnings
Do not try to manually delete files that are associated with the virus. In many cases, these files are used by Windows and have been infected by the virus. In most cases, anti-malware programs can repair the files without deleting them.
If you do not have an anti-virus program running weekly on your computer, you should consider purchasing one or choosing one of the free options available online.
