How to Change the Icon Font in XP
Each icon on your Windows XP computer has a label beneath it. This label has a default font that is in use by Windows on every computer you use. It is easy to overlook the fact that you can change this font to suit your needs. While you don't have a lot of options in this area, you can still change the icon font from its default using XP's customization tools.

Minimize any open windows and right-click on your desktop.

Click "Properties."

Click "Appearance."

Click "Advanced."

Select "Icon" from the "Item" drop-down menu. Select the name of the new font you want to use for your icons from the "Font" drop-down menu. Click "Apply" to save your changes. Click the "X" box to exit the window.
