How to Remove Chewing Gum From a Dog's Hair
Your dog does not chew gum, so it may be a mystery to you how the dog got gum in its hair. Regardless of how it occurred, remove chewing gum from a dog's hair using the same technique you would use to remove gum from human hair. With patience and effort, you can loosen and remove the gum using peanut butter without having to resort to the scissors.
Instructions
-
-
1
Scoop 1 to 2 tbsp. of creamy peanut butter onto your fingers.
-
2
Work the peanut butter into the area where the gum is stuck with your fingers. Continue working the oil of the peanut butter into the gum to loosen the gum from the fur.
-
-
3
Remove the gum as it separates from the fur and discard it. Keep working the peanut butter into the gum until you remove all of the gum.
-
4
Apply warm water to the gum area after you remove all of the gum. Add a small dollop of shampoo to the fur and work the shampoo into a lather to remove the peanut butter residue.
-
5
Rinse the dog's fur well with water to remove the shampoo.
-
6
Dry the dog's fur with the towel.

Tips & Warnings
If the gum is especially stubborn, you can always trim it out. Save this for a last resort; however, and try to make the peanut butter work.
