The Apple iPhone provides push notification for your mail, contact information and calendars to and from programs such as MobileMe, Gmail and Microsoft Outlook. Once setup, your iPhone will fetch new information from the server as often as every 15 minutes, or as little as one hour in order to make sure your program and the phone have the same information. In order to preserve your battery life it is recommended to reduce the push notification feature to every hour.
