1
Place raw sliced cucumbers or sliced potatoes on your closed eyes for 20 to 30 minutes to reduce puffiness.
-
2
Drink six to eight glasses of water a day. Staying well hydrated reduces puffiness and dark circles under the eyes.
-
-
3
Reduce the salt in your diet. Sodium increases the retention of water in your body resulting in swollen eyelids.
-
4
Fill the basin of your sink with cold water. Stick your face in the water for 15 to 20 seconds---or as long as tolerable. You may also add a few ice cubes to the water. The cold reduces puffy eyes and dark circles by increasing blood flow to the face.
-
5
Get at least eight hours of sleep each night. Sleep deprivation contributes to tired swollen eyes.
-
6
Talk to you doctor about allergy medication if your dark circles and swollen eyelids are from watery itchy eyes and sneezing.
-
7
Look in the cosmetic aisle of your local drugstore for cover sticks formulated to reduce the appearance of dark circles.
-
8
Talk to a dermatologist about dark circles that do not go away with traditional treatments. Some dark circles are hereditary and a dermatologist may prescribe creams or lotions with vitamin A that restores skin resolution under the eyes.
