How to Use an Electric Simmering Pot

Jennifer Brister

Electric simmer pots are used to fill the home with a pleasing aroma. They can be filled with scented wax, liquid potpourri or scented oil. These pots are easy to use and leave your home with a nice scent that lingers for hours. They are heated with a small light bulb that comes with the pot and are safe to use.

Pleasing aromas can make your home feel more inviting.

Warning

Read the instructions that come with your electric simmer pot. Not all pots are designed to be used with wax.

  1. Place your electric simmer pot in an area where it is not likely to be turned over. If you have small children, place the pot well out of their reach.

  2. Fill the pot with your desired ingredient. If using liquid potpourri, fill the pot two thirds of the way full. If you are using scented wax candles, remove the base and the wick from two tea light candles and place only the wax portion into the pot. If you are using blocks of scented wax, simply place one small block into the bottom of the pot.

  3. Plug your electric simmer pot into an outlet. Place the lid on your pot and let the contents simmer. Since the pot can become quite hot, make sure that it is out of reach of children and pets. Avoid placing the pot near fabrics such as curtains or bed linens, since the contents of the pot can be flammable if knocked over.

  4. Let the simmer pot fill your home with a pleasant aroma. Unplug the pot when you are done using it. Do not leave the pot plugged in while you are sleeping or when you leave the home.
