How to Reformat a Sansa MP3 Player

Sansa Fuze and Clip MP3 players occasionally encounter software errors that prevent normal operation of the device. If you are unable to return the player to normal working condition, reformatting the device may provide the fix. When you reformat the device, all of your music and settings are erased from the MP3 player. Reformat your Sansa Fuze or Clip MP3 player to return it to normal operating condition.

Instructions

Sansa Fuze

1. Press the "Home/Menu" button to return the Sansa Fuze to the main menu.

2. Highlight "Settings" and press the "Select" button to bring up a list of adjustable settings on the Fuze.

3. Choose "System Settings" and "Format." A confirmation message will appear on the screen.

4. Select "Yes" to format the Fuze. It will take several seconds to several minutes before the player is reformatted.

Sansa Clip

1. Push the "Home" button to return to the Clip's main menu.

2. Choose "Settings" by highlighting it and pressing the "Select" button.

3. Select "System Settings" and then "Format." A prompt will appear on the screen asking you to confirm the formatting.

4. Highlight "Yes" and press the "Select" button to confirm reformatting the player.
