How Do I Kill Ganon in Level 9 of Legend of Zelda on the NES?

The final challenge in the Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Entertainment System is a battle with Ganon, the main villain in the game. The battle with Ganon is the culmination of exploring the entire overworld and eight dungeons, where you collect several items to help you in your quest. To battle and defeat Ganon, you need a sword and the Silver Arrows, which you collect earlier in the game.

Instructions

1. Press the "Start" button to bring up your inventory and equip the Silver Arrows for the "B" button.

2. Walk your character into Ganon's lair. The room will lighten, showing Ganon. He will disappear and begin moving around the room, shooting fireballs.

3. Pay attention to the locations of the fireballs when they are shot at you. Ganon moves around the room in a fixed pattern.

4. Move Link to one of the locations where Ganon shoots fireballs, and swing your sword by pressing the "A" button. Ganon will appear when you hit him and then disappear again to move around the room in his fixed pattern.

5. Hit Ganon with your sword two more times. He will turn red on the third hit.

6. Shoot a Silver Arrow at Ganon with the "B" button when he turns red. The Silver Arrow will kill Ganon, and the game will conclude.

Tips & Warnings

• The Legend of Zelda has two different quests. The second quest starts when the first is finished. The second quest has everything found in the first quest but in different locations. The method for defeating Ganon in the second quest is the same as that for defeating him in the first quest.
