Learning how to take a picture of what you see on the screen of your computer is easier than you think. Microsoft Windows (Vista) includes the Vista Tablet Optional Components feature, within which is the Snipping Tool. Make sure your Vista tablet is enabled and then follow these simple directions to take a screen shot of your computer screen.

      Click on the Start button at the bottom left of your screen.

      In the Start Search window, type "snipping tool." When the application appears in your programs box, click on it to start it. A small program window will appear. Your screen may go faded and a cursor that looks like a "+" will appear.

      Drag your cursor around the area you wish to keep as an image. A larger snipping tool box will appear with your image choice framed in red.

      Select "Save." This icon will look like a disk, and when you click on it a new window will open with a "Save as" box. This box allows you to change the name from the default "capture" name to a name better suited to the image. Type in your new image name and save.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Snipping Tool allows you to select from four file types when capturing screen shots.
