How to Bend an Armature Wire Spherical

Armature wire is used as the basis for clay sculpture to give the figure strength and form. Armature wire is just bendable aluminum wire and can be formed into any shape you want. It can be purchased at most craft or art supply stores.

Things You'll Need

• Armature wire
• Newspaper
• Matches

Instructions

1. Roll a piece of newspaper into a tight ball shape.

2. Wrap armature wire around and around the circumference of the ball.

3. Set the ball outdoors on a cement surface and light the newspaper with a match. Once the paper has burned away, you will be left with armature wire in the shape of a ball.

Tips & Warnings

• You can make the ball as large or as small as you wish. And you can vary the thickness of the armature wire to suit your liking.

• As you are about to light the newspaper, make sure not to set the ball near anything flammable.
