How to Help Soldiers in Iraq

How to Help Soldiers in Iraq thumbnail
Everyone likes to receive mail, including soldiers stationed in Iraq.

As of February 2010, there are 98,000 American troops stationed in Iraq. Though the number of service members stationed there has greatly decreased in the past few years, the hazards and difficulties facing these troops have not lessened. Because soldiers are still risking their lives, it is critical that people on the home front show support and help the soldiers in every way possible.

Instructions

    • 1

Send your old cell phone to an organization called Cell Phones for Soldiers. This program uses the money made from recycling the phones to purchase calling cards that are distributed to soldiers stationed overseas.

    • 2

Send letters and care packages to the soldiers in Iraq to boost their morale. Encourage your friends and family members to do the same.

    • 3

Write to your congressional representative and express any concerns you have for the troops currently serving in Iraq.

    • 4

Give blood, which will help save the lives of troops overseas. Donate at an Army Blood Drive in your area or find a donation center at the Armed Services Blood Program website.

Thank you for this article. I wish more articles were written on how to help our servicemen and women. They risk their lives everyday and the least we can do is give blood or donate old cell phones. Thank you!
