How to Clean Greasy & Dusty Kitchen Cabinets

Things You'll Need

• Water
• Alkaline cleaner
• Bucket
• Sponge
• Nylon-covered sponge
• Lint-free cloths
• Oil soap

Instructions

Plastic, metal or glass cabinets

1. Combine an alkaline cleaner with water in a mop bucket, according to the manufacturer's instructions. These cleaners can be found at your local home and garden center or janitorial supply store.

2. Apply the cleaning agent with a sponge and let the solution set on the cabinets for two minutes.

3. Scrub grease-laden areas with a nylon-covered sponge. Rinse the sponge in a separate mop bucket filled with water as it becomes soiled.

4. Use a damp cloth to wipe the cabinets free of cleaning residue.

5. Dry the cabinets with a lint-free cloth.

Wooden cabinets

1. Combine 2 tbsp. of dish-washing detergent and 1 gallon of warm water.

2. Soak a sponge in the cleaning solution and use it to wipe grease-affected areas, such as hardware and the bottom of the cabinets.

3. Pour 2 tbsp. of oil soap onto a clean cloth and wipe down the entire cabinet as well as the hardware.

4. Dry the cabinets with a lint-free cloth. Buff the cabinet with the cloth in the direction of the wood grain.

Tips & Warnings

• Furniture polish can be used to bring sheen to dull cabinets after cleaning.
