How to Delete a Windows Disk Protection Cache File

A disk protection cache file is the file used by the Windows Disk Protection service, which stores all of your drive data. In the event of an emergency, the data stored in the disk protection cache file can be used to restore your computer to its original condition. Deleting this file is occasionally necessary to save drive space or when you are using an alternative backup solution. This is a process that can be done in minutes.

Instructions

1. Open the "Start" menu, open "All Programs," open the "Shared Computer Toolkit" folder, and open the "Disk Protection" program.

2. Click on the option to "Protect the Hard Disk."

3. Click the "Off" option from the drop down menu next to "Disk Protection."

4. Select "Yes" to confirm changes.

5. Reboot your computer. The disk protection cache file will automatically be deleted.
