1. Close Baldur's Gate if it's already open.

2. Locate the shortcut icon used to launch Baldur's Gate.

3. Right-click on the shortcut icon and choose "Properties".

4. Click on the "Compatibility" tab.

5. Towards the bottom of the dialog box there should be a section titled "Privilege Level".

6. Make sure the setting called "Run this program as an administrator" is enabled.
