How to Heal Dry, Cracked Feet
Dry, cracked feet are caused by insufficient moisture, prolonged standing, wearing improper footwear or even a rise of yeast in the body. Individuals with eczema or other skin conditions may be more likely to develop cracked feet and heels. Regardless of the cause, the painful, unattractive condition can be remedied with items you have around the house or that you can easily obtain. The most important part of properly caring for your feet is providing them with adequate moisture. If you follow this simple rule, the cracks and dry skin on your feet will be a thing of the past. Things You'll Need
- Oil-based moisturizer
- Vegetable oil or shortening
- Socks
- Pumice stone
- Green clay
- Water

Apply an oil-based moisturizer to your dry, cracked feet at least once per day to help soothe and soften the skin. Or if you want to ensure that you use only natural items, rub in some vegetable oil or shortening into your skin, cover your feet with socks and leave on overnight to soak in. Rinse in the morning.

Use a pumice stone at least once per week to help remove dead skin cells and soften dry, cracked feet.

Apply a foot mask once per week to remove dead skin and soften dry, cracked feet. Make your own foot mask by combining 3 tbsp. of green clay (available at natural health stores or online) with enough water to make a thick paste. Apply generously to the feet, cover with socks and leave on overnight. Rinse in the morning, and your feet will be considerably softer.

Tips & Warnings
Use flaxseed oil as an alternative to moisturizer or vegetable oil.
If you don't like the idea of making your own foot mask, some commercial products are available online or in natural health stores.
Never try to remove dead skin from your feet and heels using a knife or razor blade, as this can cause infection or pain from removing too much skin.
Do not wear open-back shoes if you have a predisposition to dryness and cracked feet or heels. They only make the situation worse. Instead, wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes with cotton socks.
