How to Install a Jacuzzi Pedestal Sink
Installing a pedestal bath sink is one way to modernize your bathroom. Pedestal sinks work well bathrooms that don't have a lot of room. Stylish and inexpensive, pedestal sinks are also ideal in powder rooms used only for guests. Does this Spark an idea?

- Channel-lock pliers
- Needle-nose pliers
- Screwdrivers
- Marking pen
- Stud finder
- Hole punch
- Heavy-duty wall anchors (1/4-inch or slightly larger)
- Lags (sized for wall anchors)
- Socket set (for lags)
- Hammer

Shut off the water valves underneath the current sink. Use a pair of channel-lock pliers if the valves are hard to turn off.

Remove the faucet supply lines from the faucet end, using the channel-lock pliers. Loosen the faucet lock nuts under the sink and remove the bath faucet. If your faucet has a drain pop-up, remove the drain clip from beneath the sink so that the faucet can be removed. Use needle-nose pliers for the clip.

Remove the faucet. Loosen up the sink clips under the current sink, using a screwdriver. Remove the current sink. Remove the cabinet, if there is one, by removing the screws that hold it to the wall.

Install a new faucet or reuse the old one on the pedestal sink top. Install in the reverse order that you previously removed it. Hook up the new faucet on the pedestal top before placing it down over the pedestal. This will make your job easier.

Place the pedestal sink base on the floor and have a helper hold the sink top in place too. Get down and behind the pedestal sink top and mark the screw holes on the wall, using a marking pen.

Remove the sink top and base. Use a stud finder to locate any studs that you can mount your sink too. If the studs don't line up with the marked holes, then you will use wall anchors.

Punch out two holes in the wall for installations with no studs. Hammer in specialized wall anchors that are strong enough to hold sinks in place.

Reinstall the sink base and top. Use a socket set to insert the lag screws into the sink openings and wall. The weight of the sink is placed onto the pedestal. The wall-mount screws are actually to prevent the sink top from being pulled away from the wall.

Hook back up the supply lines and faucet drain in reverse order that they were taken apart. Turn on the water and check to see if the sink is secure and doesn't leak.
