How Can I Transfer Ownership of My Quickbooks Software?
The business is sold and the new owner needs to access all of the records, especially the bookkeeping records. Unlike some other software types, the transfer of Intuit's QuickBooks is not as simple as just handing over some files or CDs. You can transfer the software to another only with written permission from Intuit. The process if relatively simple on your part, but may or may not be approved depending upon the circumstances of the transfer. Initiating the process requires completing a simple form on the Intuit website.

Type the web address support.QuickBooks.Intuit.com/support/transfer in your web browser.

Enter your software license number in the first section.

Use the drop-down lists to select "QuickBooks" next to product family and the appropriate version year.

Enter your information in the section "The license currently belongs to." Make sure the information matches the original registration information but with current contact number and email.

Enter the name and contact number of the company you are transferring the software to. This information should be the permanent details that will be in their registration.

Type a detailed reason you would like to transfer ownership of your software to the new company. You should review the Transfer of Ownership terms to be sure your reason is allowed.

Check the box indicating you accept the Transfer of Ownership terms once you have read them.

Review the information you entered and ensure it is accurate.

Click "Submit Request."

Now you have to be patient and wait for Intuit to contact you. They may have further questions or will notify you of approval of the transfer and give you the final steps to complete your request.

If you cannot locate your license or registration number, you may search for it at support.QuickBooks.Intuit.com/support/licensenumber, or contact customer support at 888-859-4056.
If you have owned your software for fewer than 60 days, you should consider obtaining a refund rather than transferring ownership. Intuit offers a guarantee, which can be viewed on the Transfer of Ownership terms webpage.
A successful transfer of ownership may require a transfer fee of $25. The transfer fee is up to the discretion of Intuit staff.
