How to Wear a Wedding Dress on an Airplane
With the rise of destination weddings, many brides do not know how to get their wedding gowns to and/or from their wedding destination. While unconventional, wearing a wedding gown on a plane ensures that the gown will arrive at its final destination safe and sound. As long as the wedding dress doesn't have a long train or too much material, wearing a wedding dress on a flight shouldn't be too difficult for the woman wearing it. Be forewarned, however, that sitting in a wedding dress on an airplane will most likely cause major wrinkles, especially with the FAA regulations regarding walking about the cabin during the flight. Does this Spark an idea?

Voluminous dresses are difficult to travel in. Board the plane when they ask for passengers requiring special assistance.
-
2
A detachable train makes a dress easier to wear on a plane. Place one blanket over your seat. This protects your dress from anything that may be embedded on the seat.

3
Wedding gowns with a corset bodice may be uncomfortable for a long flight. Sit down on the blanket. Cover yourself with the second blanket to protect the dress from any spills that may occur during your journey.

Live flowers are only allowed on domestic flights. Wait until the other passengers have left the plane before you leave. Deplane carefully, making sure not to touch the arm rests that line the aisle in case they are dirty.

Tips & Warnings
An oversized robe or sleeved blanket can be worn in place of using the blankets.
Take off your shoes and wear slippers to avoid snagging the hem or dirtying the material with dirt from your shoes.
Bring a steamer with you, in case the material is wrinkled after sitting in it on a long flight.
Carry a detachable train with you in a garment bag.
If your dress is very large, purchase two seats in order to spread out.
Dresses made with less material travel better on flights than voluminous ones.
Accidents happen, so ask that the person sitting next to you not eat or drink anything that can spill on you.
It is always best to transport a wedding gown in a garment bag instead of wearing it on a plane, as there are many unexpected factors that can occur, such as spillage due to turbulance, accidents and motion sickness.
Most wedding dresses wrinkle if you sit in them for long periods of time. Consider purchasing a dress made with anti-wrinkle material.
