How to Pay a Traffic Ticket in South Carolina
Like all U.S. states, South Carolina punishes violations of its strict traffic laws by levying traffic tickets. The state's 46 individual counties handle payment of traffic tickets, and if you get a ticket in South Carolina, you'll have to submit payment to the individual courts within each county. All ticket payment information, including the amount of your fee and the court that oversees your specific payment, is listed on the ticket itself.

Pay your South Carolinian traffic ticket by mail. Check the box next to "Guilty" on the ticket, sign the bottom and place the ticket in an envelope. Include a money order or personal check for the monetary amount listed on the traffic ticket and send it to the county court address posted on the ticket.

Tips & Warnings
Most counties support online payments; as of February 2010, only 14 counties don't.
If you're paying by mail, make a copy of the traffic ticket for your personal records.
Losing your ticket is no excuse for not paying it. If you've lost your ticket, you must contact the county court that oversees traffic violation fees in the area in which you were ticketed. If you don't know which court this is, call South Carolina's Department of Motor Vehicles at (803) 896-5000, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
