How to Convert AOL to Comcast

How to Convert AOL to Comcast thumbnail
Upgrading from AOL to Comcast can be relatively hassle-free.

If you're tired of getting online using AOL dial-up and you want to make the switch to Comcast cable Internet service, you can do so without cutting ties with your old account. AOL offers you the option to downgrade to a free account, allowing you to retain access to your email and many other AOL services. This can be accomplished by following these simple steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Log into your AOL account and select "Cancel My Billing" in the blue box on the right side of the screen.

    • 2

Click on the fourth entry in the "Frequently Asked Questions" list. On the following page, click "Here" to open the cancellation form.

    • 3

Fill out the electronic cancellation form. Do not check the box that asks if you want to cancel your free account; this will result in the complete deletion of your screen name. Click "Submit" to confirm your request to convert your paid AOL account into a free AOL account.

    • 4

Call Comcast at (800) 266-2278 and place an order for cable Internet service. If you are an existing cable TV or phone customer, you may be given the choice of installing the modem yourself or making an appointment for a technician to install the equipment.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your access to AOL's dial-up service will end on the last day of your current billing cycle. You can continue to use AOL with your Comcast cable connection.
