To stop Outlook Express from compacting your email, you need to change your settings.

Instructions

1. Open Outlook Express and log in to your account.

2. Click the "Tools" bar at the top of the screen, then click "Options."

3. Click "Maintenance," then uncheck the box labeled "Compact Messages in the Background."

4. Click "OK" to confirm the change, then log out and re-open Outlook Express.
