How to Position a Cool Mist Humidifier

A humidifier is an effective way to add moisture back into the air during dry winter months. It is a simple machine that only has a few requirements, most of which are related to positioning. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for positioning the humidifier; the steps below are general guidelines only.

1. Place the humidifier on a flat, smooth, level surface away from water. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from sensitive electrical equipment and computers.

2. Place the unit about 5 inches away from the outlet's wall to allow adequate air circulation.

3. Keep the cord away from all heat sources and hot areas. Ensure the cord is completely out of the way so that it cannot be walked on or tripped over.

4. Place the humidifier 3 feet from a crib, if using in a baby's room, to make sure it is out of reach.

Tips & Warnings

• Do not leave the humidifier running in a closed room as the air could become saturated and damaging condensation could form on walls and furniture.

• Use humidifiers with caution around children. Never leave children unsupervised in a room with a humidifier running.
