How to Kill System Idle Process

System Idle Process is not harmful to a computer. It is actually a process that starts by itself when a computer is idle, or not processing any information. Computers are built to function nonstop and to be in constant use by their owners. When a computer is idle, the automated process starts itself, but it is also supposed to turn off once activity starts up again. In some cases, a bug causes System Idle Process to keep running. This shows as using up a high amount of computer resources. Ending the process will stop System Idle Process from running and will kill that program session. The program will start up again when computer activity stops. Killing or ending the process will not damage the computer or any components.

Instructions

1. Right-click on your Windows taskbar, located at the bottom of your computer screen.

2. Select "Task Manager" from the menu list.

3. Click the "Processes" tab.

4. Click on the "CPU" bar, until the arrow is pointing down. This will make System Idle the first on the process list.

5. Click on the "System Idle Process" listing.

6. Click on the "End Process" button, located at the bottom of the window. You can also right-click on "System Idle Process" and select "End Process" from the list.

7. Confirm you wish to stop the process if prompted. Click on "OK" to confirm.

8. Close out Windows Task Manager by clicking on the "X" icon.
