How Do I Scan Two Sides of a Document in Photoshop 7?

There are two overall ways to scan an image when you're going to work with it using Photoshop 7.0: either scan the image using other software, most likely the software of the scanner's manufacturer, such as Epson or Hewlitt-Packard, and import the image into Photoshop 7.0; or scan the image using Photoshop 7.0. The latter method is easier and quicker.

Open your scanner's hood or lid and place the image that's to be scanned along the arrow at the back of the scanner's frame. The content of the image should be facing down. Straighten the image. The straighter it is now in relation to the scanner, the less work you'll have to do straightening it in Photoshop 7.0.

Turn on the scanner. While the scanner is warming up, open Photoshop.

    • 3

Click on the "File" button at the top of the Photoshop menu bar.

    • 4

A tab will open from "File." Click on the "Import" button. Look for your scanner listed in the new tab that opens next to the "Import" button. If you don't see your scanner, check to make sure the scanner is connected to the computer, whether you're using wireless or a peripheral cable. If the scanner is on and connected but the computer doesn't recognize the scanner, check the scanner's owner's manual for troubleshooting advice.

If the scanner appears next to the "Import" button, click on it. A new window will open that says "Warming Up Lamp," and the scanner will make a preliminary scan of your image. This window will take you through more steps to complete the scan of the image. The steps will vary slightly depending on what kind of scanner you have, but all will follow this basic procedure: you'll adjust the area on the image to be scanned using crosshairs, the color range, resolution and file type. Once you've chosen those settings, you'll click on "Scan."

When the scanner completes the scan of your image, a version of the image will appear in Photoshop. Click the "File" button again, then "Save." A new window will appear to give you different settings to save your file. Type in a follow name, choose a location for the file and a file type. Tiff, JPEG and GIF all have high image qualities.
