Instructions for a Blanket Stitched Fleece Baby Blanket
Fleece baby blankets are soft and comfortable. The fabric itself is machine washable, and what makes it even better for crafting is that it does not unravel. You can literally just pick your design and cut to size. You can use binding or slit the edge and knot the two different pieces together. You can even do stitching with a fun fur or textured yarn for a fun appearance. Fleece is short for polar fleece and is different from fleece that looks like sheep's wool.

Choose and Cut
-
1
Choose your size. Baby blankets come in two basic sizes: 36 x 36 inches and 46 x 60 inches. Decide if you are going to use one or two layers. Choose the design and color.
-
2
Cut you baby blanket in the size of your choice. When using two layers of fleece, pin both cut pieces together.
-
-
3
Cut a length of yarn or thread 24 inches long. Knot one end, and thread the other end through the needle eye, pulling through about 7 inches.
-
4
Starting at one corner, insert the needle about 1 inch into the main body of the blanket from the edge. Pull through so that the knot is resting against the fabric.
-
5
Loop the thread over the fabric edge, and come back through that hole. Thread the needle through that loop, heading the needle tip toward the edge.
Stitching All the Way
-
6
Take the next stitch coming from behind that fabric about ½ to 1 inch from the first stitch. Pass the needle again through the stitch loop, and head to the next stitch.
-
7
Every time you bring your needle up, catch the loop from the previous stitch.
-
8
Do this all along the blanket edge. When done, pass the needle through the original hole, and knot.
