Replace the Inspiron 6000's DVD burner in under five minutes.

Dell's Inspiron 6000 laptop can easily be considered the "workhorse" of Dell's latest line of laptops. The 6000's chassis was used not only for the 6000 line of machines but for the e1xxx line as well. It continues to undergo minor cosmetic changes but remains a stalwart part of Dell's laptop lineup. By default, the Inspiron 6000 shipped with a CD-RW/DVD CD burner but could be upgraded to a DVD-RW DVD burner. Replacing the drive is only a matter of obtaining a replacement and quickly swapping the new drive with the old.

Power down the laptop and remove the battery. Turn the entire chassis on its back so that the underside is facing upward.
