How Can You Read Mobipocket Ebooks on a Mac? thumbnail

Unfortunately, Mobipocket's software does not work on a Mac, which means that there is no direct way to download a Mobipocket-based ebook on a Mac to read it, at least while the file is still in Mobipocket's format. Therefore, you need an alternative method of reading your Mobipocket ebook.

Instructions

      Determine the filetype of the Mobipocket file. If it is a PRC file, it may be readable by another program, such as eReader.

      Use an online converter to convert the Mobipocket book to another format. Many online converters exist that allow you to upload your Mobipocket book to the website, then download a file you can read on your Mac.

      Use a flash drive or other removable media to transfer the file to a PC or Linux computer. From there, use Mobipocket Creator on the computer to do the conversion to a Mac-friendly file, such as a PDF file. You can then transfer the file back to your Mac for reading.

      Install another ebook program such as Lexcycle Stanza, Calibre or Okular. These programs are capable of reading unencrypted .Mobi files once they are added to the software's ebook library.
