Aftershave lotion can be made with harsh chemicals such as denatured alcohol that irritate the skin and cause it to dry out. Fortunately aftershave can be made at home with natural ingredients that allow you to choose your own scent and tailor your recipe to a skin type, whether it is oily or dry. Making it yourself can also be cost efficient, and it is a great gift for your significant other. The ingredients for your own aftershave lotion can be bought at herbal stores. If you don't have an herbal store in your area, you can try an online herbal store like Mountain Rose Herbs or Wild Harvest Organic. Does this Spark an idea?

Choose your essential oils. When making your aftershave, consider the essential oils that may have a musky or masculine smell. This research can be a fun aspect to creating the individual scent of your aftershave. Clove and cinnamon smells work well for men. Also, a hint of lavender could be very comely as an aphrodisiac.

Combine the witch hazel, apple cider vinegar, essential oils and rosewater or vodka together inside of your container. A spice container is recommended because it allows the lotion to be shaken out on a cotton ball in small quantities.
