Instructions

    • 1

Apply latex primer to the polyurethane foam using a 2- to 4-inch paintbrush. Apply generously so as to fill the pores in the foam.

    • 2

Allow the surface to dry for two hours.

    • 3

Apply interior acrylic latex paint in the same manner as you did the primer in Step 1.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your foam is oil-based, use an oil-based paint and primer.

  • Avoid using spray paint to coat polyurethane foam as this can sometimes cause the foam to melt.

  • Never attempt to paint exterior polyurethane foam. This type of foam must be covered with a protective shield or coating. Also, if your interior foam is exposed to water leaks or especially cold or hot weather, you should bypass paint in favor of another type of coating.
