How to Fix a DVR
A DVR, or digital video recorder, gives you the ability to record live programming onto a hard drive so you can watch it later. However, when attempting to record content onto the DVR you may encounter problems like the DVR not detecting your programming or not recording at all. Most of these issues can be corrected with just a few trial and error steps.

1
Check the cable connection in the back of the DVR. Make sure the cables running from your cable/satellite connection are securely inserted.
-
2
Press and hold the power button on the DVR until it shuts down. Let it stay off for a few moments before powering it back on. Sometimes the hard shut-down corrects any errors.

3
Check to see if you have multiple programs recording at the same time. Depending on the DVR you have, you can only record one to four different shows. If you have reached the maximum limit you can't watch or record any more. Delete one of the recordings to correct the problem.
-
4
Open your recording programs and remove some (select the recording show and press "Delete"). If your hard drive is full, the DVR isn't going to record any more content, even if you are telling it to. Once you make room on the DVR's drive you can begin watching programming again.
