How to Install Magnetic Clasps
Beading your own jewelry is usually cheaper than purchasing pieces in the store. By creating your own accessories, you save money and control the design and finished style of your necklaces and bracelets. Magnetic clasps close your necklaces and bracelets securely, and they come in various sizes and styles to fit most necklaces and bracelets. Magnetic clasps can be added to your strung jewelry design with some basic tools and techniques.

1
Bring the strand end up through the connection point of the clam shell. Tie an overhand knot on one side of a strung necklace by bringing the end of the strand over the base to form a loop. Bring the end under and through the loop and pull tight. Tie this knot as close as possible to the last bead on the strand.

2
Repeat Step 1 with the other side of the strand.

-
3
Coat each knot with a dab of jewelry glue and let dry. Trim the excess stringing material close to the knot.
-
4
Place a dab of glue on the inside of the first clam shell. Place the knot in the clam shell with the strand leading away from the hole and close firmly. Repeat with the other side of the necklace.

5
Hold one side of a jump ring with the round-nosed pliers and the other with the flat-nosed pliers. Twist the pliers away from each other to open the ring. String one side of the magnetic clasp to the jump ring and close the ring by reversing the twisting motion. Repeat with the other side of the clasp.

6
Close the loop on the first clam shell around the jump ring with the round nose pliers. Repeat with the other side of the clasp.
